I think you are far more skilled than you want to admit, Teresa. You need to be more confident in your abilities. I thank you again for the idea, though!

I have not had much response from the unemployed, yet. I think the more we keep trying to help the better, though.

I'm a little slow thanking you for your comment, Jennifer. I do agree that we need to remember our sense of community and keep working to help each other.

Thanks for the awesome shout out, Joan (and @cincyrecruiter). It's totally true that my web skills are less than ideal, which is why my blog is on Posterous in the first place. I wasn't just assing out of being responsible for getting this rolling!

Thank you for taking this on. If it gets one person a job or a connection to a job, then it's served its purpose. Thanks also to @HRMargo for getting the #HireFriday bandwagon together.

Let's get our people back to work!

It is an honor to be the catalyst for this week's Carnival of HR. My heart is filled with gratitude. I know like perhaps few others do the pain of being in transition. I also know the joy of being hired. Being in transition can also be exhilirating, particularly when I meet people like you Joan. When I started #HireFriday, two weeks ago, I did so because I felt compelled to help my friends, and their family members in transition. I'm so tired of #followfriday with its meaning rows of names. Instead, each of us can use twitter's busiest day to shine a light on the people we know who are looking for work. Every job I've ever had has been through the result networking. What a great opportunity to put our networks to work for those who need it most. Everyone wins, the candidate, the hiring manager, and the recruiter; as well as the family members and friends. I believe passionately in the power of service work. This is something I've taken on as a volunteer opportunity. I'm not doing it to make money. I am honestly doing this because of the sincere compassion and empathy I feel for people in transition. I always say, be nice to people who are in transition. You never know when you'll be reporting to them.

Hugs,

Great idea Joan (and Teresa)! It's wonderful to see how the HR, recruiting and social media communities are coming up with great ideas to try to help people in transition. From my experience, once people start focusing on helping others first, things start happening for them too.

Thanks for picking up the ball and hosting this next Carnival!
